Artist's Description

At first glance, what looks like a life-sized masjid is actually a lantern. Large roses sit in the foreground and behind them is a miniature masjid lantern with candles illuminating through. The light radiating from the candle flames bear similarity to peacock feathers. Gold coins fall from above and land in the path in front of the masjid.

I painted this for my friend who said that one of her favorite masjids is located in Iraq. The design of the masjid was based on that masjid. The lantern aspect of the painting was inspired by another friend with whom we made paper bag luminaries during one Ramadan as a craft project.
